<p>However, if you are working out and still putting on excess lbs, you may need to contemplate introducing the following strategies into your dietary program.</p>
<p><strong>1.	Get a health check</strong></p>
<p>There might be a medical reason why you are putting on weight including hypothyroidism, stress, the menopause or prescribed medication. As a result visit your doctors, get a health check and review with them your weight loss problems.</p>
<p><strong>2.	Monitor your heart beat and breathing</strong></p>
<p>The easiest way to review this is by using the Borg Scale of Perceived Exertion, and making sure you are working out enough to guarantee results, but not so full on that you are leaving yourself gasping for air. On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 napping and 10 running fast), you should be between 6 and 7.</p>
<p><strong>3.	Begin a food diary</strong></p>
<p>No matter how regularly you work out, if you are ingesting too many calories this can lead to weight gain. The difficulty many of us have is undervaluing our calorie consumption. Even the smallest of snacks – a small packet of crisps or a cappacino – can add tonnes of calories to your daily intake.</p>

<p>The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:</p>
<p>*1) Burn more calories then you’re consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight.</p>
<p>Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.</p>
<p>Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:</p>
<p>It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.</p>
<p>*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.</p>
<p>Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs.</p>
<p>Do not try fad diets <a href='http://www.pills4diet.org/'>or diet pills</a>. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow.</p>
<p>*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.</p>
<p>Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is &#8220;Muscle and Fitness&#8221;. Signup for the free newsletter.</p>
<p>A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.</p>
<p>*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.</p>
<p>*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age.</p>
<p>Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier. <p>      There are no known side effects of hoodia at the moment. I say, &#8220;at the moment&#8221; because hoodia diet pills haven’t been around that long. They were introduced on a mass scale in 2004. We don’t know what the long-term effects are of daily use. That’s why most experts recommend that you only take hoodia gordonii for short periods of time. You should look to hoodia as a long-term solution. I’ve provided a link below to an article that details all the potential hoodia side effects.</p>
<p>      So there are virtually no health issues to be concerned about as long as you are taking a product that contains 100% authentic hoodia gordonii – and nothing else. As one person mentioned in here, Desert Burn is one of the best (and safest) products available right now. Another equally as effective and safe product is Hoodoba.       Since an 8 yera old child is still developing, it probably isn’t a good idea to give him any weight loss supplements. Hoodia is all natural, but you still don’t want to introduce that at such an early age.</p>
<p>      As far as cutting things out, you may want to have more protein and a lot of vegatables in the diet, as well as keep the portions a little smaller. Snacks between meals like carrots and other fruits/veggies should help curb the sneaking of the treats.</p>
<p>      You may also want to consult a pediatrician to see if he might have a thyroid problem. If that’s the case, then they do have natural ways to control that (look for glyconutrients on the web).</p>
<p>      My nephew has growing spurts where he grows out, then up, never both at once. </p>
